Phase 4: Urbanus-Negative Pathway

Negative Pathway

Back in times, number of populations per square kilometer was much lower than now, especially in big cities like Paris, in which from my 10 days there, I have noticed that spaces are not being utilized as efficient as they could be. Most of the architectures are shaped in rectangle, containing living and commercial units for people. These units make a round shape in rectangle or square, and as a consequence, in the middle, there are always empty open-air spaces that are not fully utilised at their full capacity. Numbers of architecture in Paris leave negative space in the middle like this, and as a matter of fact, this is a very important issue for a growing city with growing number of population. People are moving into the cities for better jobs and higher income, while the space is more and more limited. This has given me the inspiration to look deeper into the context of negative spaces.
