Site analysis: Petch buri Road/ Nicom Makasan

From the surrounding of Oscar movie theater. My analysis focus on the low income community in that area because I think that low income is the one that being taken advantage of from capitalism. The graphic shows the black block as the density of the low income community.

 

This diagram shows the different community. All of the community are situated near the canal and rail way. From the interview, it is stated that the community exist before the high rise and town. However nowadays the community area being push away from the pressure of the developing area.

This diagram shows the income gradient showing that higher income are on the east side of the site while lower income are one the west side of the site.

From the interview with the leader of the rail way community. There are several points I get from her:

• All these community exist before the development of the city
• member are consisted of people around the country
• rate of the turn over is high
• people stay here because of mobility and low fix cost (no rental cost)
• People come here in hope for money
• about 90% of people in the community has dept mostly out of the system
• average income 9,000 baht/month
• People have to work daily for food daily
• wont attend meeting or educational opportunities because they would miss opportunities to gain income of that day 
• They do not feel like being taken advantage of from capitalism but rather appreaciate the idea
• They would leave if the government or any parties can offer place to stay and
