Makkasan district was once an important train-workers community full of stories that has been slept for decades. Facing the train station is the Railway Depot and Workshop which is the main SRT depot in Thailand which is located 3km away.
It used to be the only museum about trains existed in Thailand, supported by State Railway of Thailand or SRT. Despite the prosperity of this site in the past, nowadays, it is abandoned. This place used to be the only place in Thailand for assembling and fixing the trains, consequently, communities of workers around the site were crowded with skilled workers. But as the time passed, the train hub was moved to another place, Makkasan Railway Station was left as a place for worn-out trains.
